Russia is ready to contribute to the conclusion of Azerbaijan-Armenia peace treaty. This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, posted on the department's website.

"The "Basic principles for establishing interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia" proposed by Baku and Yerevan's response to them are intended to serve as the basis for the start of Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations on a peace treaty", Zakharova said.

The diplomat said that this topic was discussed on April 9 during telephone conversations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It had been also discussed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at talks in Moscow the day before. Besides, Sergey Lavrov discussed it with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov by phone.
