19 of the 30 Azerbaijani islands in the Caspian Sea may be used for
tourism, head of the “Caspian” science center at the Baku State
University Chingiz Ismaylov said, Trend reports.

This includes the islands of Snagi-Mugan, Gala Su, Butan, Chygyl,
Dashly, Zirya, Beyuk Zirya, Dash Zirya, Jilov, Adsyz, Kur Dashy and
others.

Ismaylov said that they need to study the islands and 5 or 6 out of 19
may be used for tourism at first.

Some islands have oil-extracting equipment, some used to have military
facilities and radio antennae. They need ecological assessment. The
islands are distinguished by their lack of pollution, making them
safer for swimming.
