FSB thwarts terrorist attack on railway line in Crimea
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) prevented a supporter of the ISIS international terror group (outlawed in Russia) from conducting a terrorist attack on a railway line in Crimea, the FSB said in a statement on Thursday.
"The Federal Security Service in Crimea has thwarted a terrorist attack. A Russian national, a supporter of the Islamic State international terrorist organization, has been detained in Simferopol. He was preparing to blow up a railway line on the instructions of leaders of the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion ‘Crimea’ involved in military activities against the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine," the statement reads.
Two improvised explosive devices with a total weight of three kilograms, two electric detonators, instructions on how to plant bombs along railway lines, extremist literature, the Crimea battalion’s flag and propaganda leaflets were seized from the detained person’s home. A case has been opened against him under Articles 30.1, 205.1 and 222.1.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (preparations for a terrorist attack, unlawful possession of explosives and explosive devices).
