Absolute poverty level decreases in Georgia

According to the Georgian Sakstat National Statistical Service, in 2021, 17.5% of the population were living below the poverty level.

The data shows that the absolute poverty rate, which means the number of people without access to the minimum means of subsistence, has fallen by 3.8% since 2020. At the same time, in 2019, this level accounted to 21.3%.

In cities, 15% of people live below the poverty level, in villages - 21.3% of residents. During the year, the urban indicator fell by 2.1%, and the rural by 6.3%.
