Firefighters extinguish fire at hydropower plant near Tbilisi

Firefighters have extinguished the fire that broke out at the Zahesi hydropower plant near Tbilisi in the early hours of Monday, Georgia’s Emergency Management Service said.

The Service said no injuries were caused by the fire due to “timely response” of firefighters, with 20 crews of the emergency service called to subdue the fire.

Six electric transformers at the HPP were damaged by the fire, the cause of which is not yet established.
