Turkey plans to conduct new cross-border operations in northern Syria to ensure security on its southern borders, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

According to him, the Turkish authorities have done everything possible to make the country's armed forces one of the most modern armies in the world.

"We destroyed the corridor of terrorism  on our southern borders. We will launch new operations [in Syria] to further secure the borders. We are carefully studying the situation," TASS quotes the Turkish leader as saying.
