Russian president wants Matviyenko to head Federation Council

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that he wants Saint-Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko to head the Federation Council.

Medvedev made the statement at a meeting with Matviyenko. It is her decision, he added.
