Criminal case on members of Islamic Party sent to court in Azerbaijan

The criminal case with regards to the chairman of the Islamic Party and its other members has been sent to the court for consideration in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

Investigation over the case has completed and the case has been sent to the Court on Heinous Crimes of Baku, spokesman of the Prosecutor General's Office Eldar Sultanov told the news agency.

A preventive measure in the form of an arrest for three months was made in respect to chairman of the illegal Islamic Party of Azerbaijan Movsum Samedov by Nasimi court on Jan.20.

A criminal case was filed with regards to members of the Islamic Party under Art. 28, 214.2.1 (preparation of organized criminal group for the crime of), Art. 28, 214.2.3 (preparation of the crime with firearms or tools used as weapons), Art. 228.3 (unlawful possession, sale and manufacture of weapons) and Art. 278 (attempt to overthrow the government and take the power) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
