Kazakhstan and Iran agree on free transit of wheat, other agricultural produce
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaIran will levy no duties on transit of Kazakh wheat and other agricultural produce, the Kazakh Industry and Infrastructural Development Ministry said in a statement.
The presidents of Kazakhstan and Iran signed a bilateral memorandum on cooperation in trade and agricultural produce transit in Tehran on June 19.
"Consistent with the memorandum, Iran will provide free transit of Kazakh wheat and other agricultural produce through its territory, without levying any additional charges or duties. The sides will promote the importation of Kazakh wheat into Iran on SWAP terms and the exportation of the same amount of wheat from the Iranian border," the ministry press service said on Monday.
For its part, Kazakhstan undertakes to support Iranian agricultural cargo. "The Kazakh Industry and Infrastructural Development Ministry and the Iranian Roads and Urban Development Ministry have pledged to stay in contact with respective agencies in third countries to ensure the transit of goods at the optimal pace and price," the press service said.
