Maria Zakharova to Vestnik Kavkaza: Russia highly values ​​relations with Caspian states

Moscow highly appreciates ties with its Caspian neighbors - Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Vestnik Kavkaza during the weekly press conference.

"We highly appreciate the interaction with our Caspian partners, including the level of trust and understanding established between our countries on the Caspian agenda key issues," she said in the first place.

Maria Zakharova emphasized that the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, signed in 2018, plays an important role in the relations of the Caspian states.

"We cooperate in such areas as the protection of the natural environment and biological resources, scientific research, overcoming and preventing emergencies - such as infections and various diseases - energy, transport and other areas that provide a normal life for our peoples by the Caspian Sea," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

She also drew attention to the cooperation of the Caspian states in the field of military cooperation.

"Today, the 6th Caspian Summit is being held in the capital of Turkmenistan, which is attended by the President of Russia. I think there will also be public assessments by the head of state," Maria Zakharova concluded.
