Sri Lanka shaken by coup attempt
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaMass protests have been taking place since early morning in the capital of Sri Lanka. People are dissatisfied with rising prices for food, electricity and fuel. Due to the pandemic, the government introduced an austerity regime, and the flow of tourists and, accordingly, state revenues fell.
During the rallies, the police used tear gas, but the demonstrators were able to break into the administration building of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
According to media reports, two ships of the Sri Lankan Navy entered the sea from the port of Colombo. Presumably, the president may be on board of one of them.
