UN report ‘to condemn’ Turkey for 2010 flotilla

Turkey is concerned about expected criticism in a son-to-be-released UN report believed to defend the legality of Israel’s Gaza blockade.

According to world media, the upcoming report by the UN Secretary-General into the deaths of nine activists aboard the Mavi Marmara in 2010 is likely to strongly criticise Turkey’s involvement in the flotilla, and to defend the legality of Israel’s blockade of Gaza.

A draft of the report, due to be released within two weeks, was given to Israel and Turkey about six weeks ago. The committee determined that Israel's naval blockade of Gaza is in keeping with international law, and therefore its actions to stop the flotilla were also legal.
