Alexey Vlasov praises Baku
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Heydar Aliyev Fund organized a tour for Russian journalists, the
second such project this year, the Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza
and Deputy Dean of the History Faculty of the Moscow State University,
Alexey Vlasov, said in an interview with Trend.
Students of the History Faculty of Moscow State University visited
Baku on May 9 and performed for veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
This time the tour was organized to show Baku and its citizens to
journalists who had been visiting it for 10-15 years or those who were
visiting it for the first time, Vlasov said.
The press-tour involves about 10 Russian TV and press journalists.
Vlasov believes that Baku is far different from what you can see on
TV.
He praised the spending of finances received from sales of
hydrocarbons on the development of infrastructure projects and the
comfortable conditions for everyone who arrives in Baku.
Vlasov said that the old buildings in Baku are fantastic, they were
preserved as they can be seen in films. A walk through the city
without a guide is the best way to feel the spirit of Baku and
understand its hidden contents.
The VK editor-in-chief underlined that Baku transmits a sense of
security. The local population is hospitable and eager to give
directions. There are hardly any unclean or dark streets.
Vlasov believes that new construction in the historic center of the
city is bad but necessary to solve housing problems.
He noted that he will take a vacation in Baku this year. It is a
tribute of respect to the city for giving a good welcome and being
comfortable. The old parts of the city are like an open museum, Vlasov
says.
