Russian Deputy Foreign Minister counterpart Igor Morgulov and his Kazakh counterpart Adil Tursunov discussed today's state and the prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia within multilateral formats in Asia, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service said.

The meeting took place during Tursunov's visit to Russia.

"The parties gave special attention to issues concerning cooperation between the two countries within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia [CICA]. In light of Kazakhstan's current chairmanship of the CICA, Tursunov informed the Russian diplomat about ongoing preparations for the 6th CICA Summit in October 2022, including the event's agenda, its content and organizational aspects," the press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The Russian side highly assessed the efforts being made by Kazakhstan's chairmanship to intensify the forum's activities and expressed support in favor of the conference's transformation into an international organization," it said.

Tursunov and Morgulov also discussed the schedule of upcoming events within the CICA.

"Following their talks, the diplomats agreed to continue active contacts aimed at ensuring the success of the 6th CICA Summit and at strengthening cooperation between the two countries within multilateral formats in Asia," the press service said.
