Russia approves ratification of Caspian security cooperation deal
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussia has approved the deal on security cooperation in the Caspian Sea. The document will be presented to President Dmitry Medvedev and introduced to the parliament, RIA Novosti reports.
A framework convention was signed in November 2003 to protect the Caspian Sea environment.
Kazakhstan and Russia signed a border deal on the Caspian Sea in July 1998, a protocol was signed in May 2002.
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan signed a similar document and protocol on November 29, 2001, and February 27, 2003, respectively.
Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on the crossing point of borders in the Caspian Sea on May 14, 2003.
