Sargsyan: Armenia has great potential for tourism development

The tourism industry in Armenia has great potential, the President of
Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, said at a meeting with the Secretary General

of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Taleb Rifai,

News-Armenia reports.


According to him, tourism is a priority sector in Armenia. "Naturally,
we attach great importance to the development of tourism in Armenia

and are very pleased that for nearly 15 years we have been members of

the World Tourism Organization and we have a good future in the

context of cooperation,"  the president said, expressing confidence
that the visit of the Secretary General of UNWTO to Armenia will be a

good incentive for further cooperation.

According to the National Statistical Service, the number of tourists
visiting Armenia in January-March 2011 increased by 22.1% compared to

the same period in 2010, amounting to 113,515 people.
