U.S. President Joe Biden plans to nominate U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy as an U.S. Ambassador to Russia, CNN reported citing its sources.

According to CNN, the Biden Administration hopes that the U.S. Senate will promptly approve Tracy’s candidacy, and she will be able to begin her work in Moscow soon. The US authorities have already filed an agreement request to Russia, the report says.

Tracy, who speaks Russian and was the No. 2 diplomat in Moscow from 2014 to 2017, would be the first female to serve in the role. She has been ambassador to Armenia since 2019.

The Biden administration hopes to get her in place swiftly to replace John Sullivan who stepped down earlier this month.
