Azerbaijani president visits Sumgayit

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Sumgayit yesterday, his website says.

Aliyev visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the
center of Sumgayit and laid flowers.

The president was informed about socio-economic activities in the
city. Sumgayit produced DGP worth 250 million manats in the first half
year. Its growth rate is 30%, compared with the same period last year.

Over 1000 workplaces opened. The city launched new education, health
care and cultural facilities in 2003-2010. The city continues
development.
