Georgian parliamentary speaker explains amendment to law on religions

The chairman of the parliament of Georgia, David Bakradze, explained the ambiguous amendments to the law on giving legal status to religious entities,  Novosti Georgia reports.

Last week the parliament of Georgia adopted amendments to the Civil Code on giving the status of legal entities to all religious societies, as is the case in the member-states of the Council of Europe. The Patriarchy called for the issue to be discussed publicly. On Sunday demonstrations of Orthodox supporters took place in the centre of Tbilisi.
