Iranian film director receives main prize of St. Petersburg Film Festival

An Iranian film, “Nader and Simin: divorce”, directed by Asghar Farhadi has received the Grand Prix for best film in the Best of the Best II film festival which took place in St. Petersburg, RIA Novosti reports referring to the press center of the Film Forum.

In 2011, this film was awarded the "Golden Bear" and the ecumenical jury prize at the Berlin Film Festival.

The jury at the Best of the Best festival are not professionals, and are mostly well-known public figures, not associated with the world of filmmaking. The only professional among the jury was the chairman,  screenwriter Rustam Ibragimbekov.
