Ingush head testifies in militant trial

The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov appeared today as a witness at the trial of a member of a militant group, whom he had earlier persuaded to surrender, RIA Novosti reports.

The defendant is Yusuf Mutsolgov. On January 29, 2010 he injured one police officer, barricaded in a house and provided fierce opposition to the law enforcement officers during a firefight in the village of Troitskaya. The head of Ingushetia took part in the situation and after four hours of negotiations persuaded the man to cease fire and surrender.
