Kazakh Parliament of 8th convocation holds first session
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe first session of the Parliament of Kazakhstan of the VIII convocation was held in Astana today. It was addressed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Tokayev said that the last year's referendum convincingly proved wide support of the presidential initiatives by the nation. According to him, the constitutional reform enabled to reboot the entire political system of Kazakhstan.
Six parties were elected to the Mazhilis, the lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament, on March 19. Amanat party won a majority with 62 seats, Auyl People’s Patriotic Democratic Party received 8 seats, Respublica party - 6 seats, Aq Jol Democratic Party - 6 seats, People’s Party of Kazakhstan - 5 seats and National Social Democratic Party - 4 seats.
