Azerbaijani investigation returns from Afghan plane crash site

Azerbaijani Third Secretary of the embassy in Pakistan Chingiz Garibli
said that the Azerbaijani state commission for investigation of the
plane crash in Afghanistan has returned, APA reports.


The commission will hold a press-conference in Baku today at 16.00.
Garibli said that they cannot return the bodies at the moment, as
studies of flight recorders continue. Work is being carried out
through the Azerbaijani embassy in Islamabad.


The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has not responded
to Azerbaijani notes yet. The notes contain requests to assist in
transporting bodies.


Communication with the crashed Il-76 4K-AZ of Silk Way Airlines broke
near Bagram Airport at 00.10 on July 6. The Azerbaijani Administration
of Civil Aviation believes that the plane hit an object. Spokesman of
the Taliban movement Zabibulla Mojahid said that his organization
takes the responsibility for the crash.


The plane was flying on the Baku-Bagram route. It carried 18 tons of
cargo it took from the International Airport of Heydar Aliyev in Baku.
It lifted at 21.26 on July 5, 2011.


Il-76 4K-AZ 55 can carry 40 tons of cargo. It was built in 2005 and
had technical examination in February 2011. and June 2011. 9 people
died in the crash, 5 of them are Azerbaijani and 4 Uzbek civilians.
