Pianist from Georgia delights Israel

Young Georgian virtuoso pianist Georgy Gigashvili won the 2nd prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. In addition to the prize, he was awarded eight special awards. Some of them are the Youth Jury Prize, the Best Chamber Music Performance Prize, the Audience Award and the Israel Peace Medal.
Georgy Gigashvili is the 3rd pianist from Georgia to be among the winners of the Arthur Rubinstein Competition.
Georgy was the only finalist, whose performance received standing ovation, lasted several minutes.
The 1st prize was won by 18-year-old Canadian Kevin Chen, who performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. Yukine Kuroki from Japan received the 3rd prize. In the final, she performed Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1.
