Azerbaijan has sent a response note of protest to Iran, the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Thus, Aykhan Hajizade commented on the message previously spread by the Iranian embassy in Baku that Tehran had sent a note to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with allegedly anti-Iranian materials in the Azerbaijani press.

According to the diplomat, after receiving the Iranian note today, the Azerbaijani ministry summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi.

"It was emphasized that the statements in the note of the Iranian side about the Azerbaijani media did not reflect objectivity. A response note was sent to the Iranian side, as well as a list of a number of anti-Azerbaijani articles published in the Iranian media",

Aykhan Hajizade said.

The negative effect of publications in the Iranian press
During the conversation, Mousavi was informed that the publication of false information about Azerbaijan and government officials by the Iranian press harms bilateral relations and increases misunderstanding between the countries. The statements of Iranian politicians that do not correspond to reality give the same negative result.

Urgent measures
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told the Ambassador that the misunderstanding that had arisen between Baku and Tehran was due to the unilateral behavior of the Iranian authorities, which ignored the regularly carried out benevolent steps of Baku.

"During the meeting, the need to take urgent measures was emphasized in order to prevent the spread of false and biased information against Azerbaijan in the Iranian media",

Aykhan Hajizade said.

On Saturday, April 1, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan criticized the statements of the Iranian colleague, noting that it represented another link in the series of steps taken by Iran to bring relations with Azerbaijan to a crisis. Then Tehran's inadequate reaction was caused by Jeyhun Bayramov's press conference in Tel Aviv.
