Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan restore Northern Sokh UGS facility
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaUzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have begun the revival of the Soviet UGS facility "Northern Sokh". The oil and gas departments of the two republics are engaged in the restoration of the facility.
Uztransgaz informs that a working group from Uzbekistan visited the Kadamzhai region of Kyrgyzstan to study the project on April 10. A preliminary examination of gas wells of the underground storage facility was conducted, and the terms of reference for their examination were drawn up.
The restart of the UGS facility, which had not been used for several decades, became possible after February 2023, when the parties signed a roadmap for the development of the Northern Sokh revival project for further joint use.
The storage, whose volume is about 3 billion cubic meters, is located almost entirely on the territory of Kyrgyzstan in an enclave of a neighboring state, UGS compressors are located in Uzbekistan.
