Middle Corridor's capacity to reach 10 mln tons by 2025
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) will reach 10 million tons by 2025, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said.
According to the PM, last year, the route registered a twofold increase in cargo transportation, reaching 1.7 million tons.
"Last year, the volume of cargo transported along it doubled, reaching 1.7 mln tons. Due to the roadmaps signed with Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia, 2 million tons of cargo are expected to be transported through the TITR this. And by 2025 the throughput capacity of the route will reach 10 mln tons," Smailov said.
The Middle Corridor, or Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), is a multilateral institutional development linking China’s rail freight transport networks and the EU through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The main passage of the route is a railway, part of which involves crossing the Caspian Sea by ferry. It takes up to 20-25 days to transport cargo from China to Europe.
