Nazarbayev holds Security Council session
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaKazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a session of the country's
Security Council on Thursday and spoke out against religious
extremism, News Kazakhstan reports.
Kazakhstan is a secular state promoting freedom of faith, but that
does not mean that there will be no regulation in religion.
Nazarbayev ordered law-enforcers to prevent all religious-extremist
acts. Astana, Alma-Ata and the regions must improve preventative
activities and monitor fulfilment of religious norms. The Agency for
Religious Affairs will be responsible for the work.
Kazakhstan was put on the US immigration service list on Thursday.
Press-secretary of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Olyas Omarov said that
his state wants to know the criteria for being put on the list. This
does not meet the strategic partnership of Kazakhstan and the USA.
