Labour migration to Azerbaijan increases

The number of labour migrants in Azerbaijan has increased by 12.8% in
the last six months, Turan reports.

1,297 were registered in January-June 2011, making a total of 11,409.
Labour migrants come from 92 states, most come from Turkey (6,627),
then Georgia (1,420) and Russia (597). They are followed by Iranians
(378), Indians (271), Chinese (232), English (136), Uzbeks (131),
Pakistanians (97), Germans (91), Ukrainians (90), Malaysians (80),
Turkmen (72), Kazakhs (66), Americans (61) and other nations.

Obligatory insurance of foreign migrants was introduced on January 1, 2006.
