Chechnya safest Russian region in first half of 2011

Chechnya registered the lowest crime level in Russia in the first half
of 2011. RIA Analitika said that Chechnya had 1.9 crimes per 1000
citizens, which is the lowest figure in Russia.


The highest crime rate was registered in the Zabaikalsky Region - 14.7
per 1000 citizens, followed by the Altai Republic - 13.1 per 1000 and
the Buryat Republic - 12.9 per 1000.


Russia has an average of 8.7 crimes per 100 citizens. The figure is
higher in 38 regions and lower in 45.
