Eleven dead in Turkey highway collision

Eleven people died and 39 others were injured in the southern Mersin province of Türkiye yesterday when an intercity bus collided with three other vehicles on a main highway, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

An intercity passenger bus, a truck and cars were involved in a chain accident. The bus, travelling to Istanbul from Diyarbakir, reportedly slipped in the rainy weather, overturned, and crossed into the opposite lane, causing a chain accident involving two cars and a pickup truck.

Police, gendarmerie, medical, and fire brigade teams were sent to the scene of the accident. An investigation had been launched.
