Erdoğan proposes to change Turkish constitution
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaTurkish current constitution undermines confidence in politics and must be changed. This statement was made by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the anniversary of the 1960 coup d'etat, during which former Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and two ministers of his government were killed.
"The time of coups and (military) memoranda in this country is in the past. <...> The current Constitution undermines confidence in politics, Türkiye cannot move forward with it",
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.
He emphasized that the current text of the Constitution does not correspond to the current state of affairs and disgraces the entire country.
Erdoğan also emphasized that the country's parliament is obliged to adopt a new document, as this is its national duty.
