CSTO secretary general sees terrorism threat in Central Asia

The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
(CSTO), Nikolai Bordyuzha, said that terrorist organizations have
become more activate in Central Asia lately.


There are 34 illegal organizations, some of them operate actively.


The CSTO held the fifth informal summit in Astana on Friday. The
meeting had talks on the situation around Afghanistan. The
organization is aware that withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan
will have a negative effect on Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and
Russia, which requires securing borders.


The CSTO is a military-political alliance of Russia, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
