An Armenian citizen tried to import several dozen diamonds without a declaration. The Armenian State Revenue Committee reported the foiled crime.

The incident occurred at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport. The illegal cargo was found during a check of the luggage of a man who arrived from Sharjah (UAE).

There were 28 diamonds sewn into the waistband of the jeans that were in his suitcase. The smuggler hid another stone in his wallet.

The customs value of the jewelry was assessed. According to the Criminal Code of Armenia, it turned out that it was higher than the permissible value of strategic goods.
