The recreational space of Alley of Heroes in Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi will welcome visitors on Saturday following the completion of its renovation and addition of new pedestrian bridge crossings and other infrastructure in the location, the Government Administration said.

Located in a tourist-oriented area of the city, the km-long Alley is situated next to the recently unveiled football stadium and near the coastline, with the renovation replacing its underground communications and irrigation system for its green spaces.

Commercial and recreational spaces, footpaths, fountains, cycling parks and decorative lights have also been installed in the effort, with 12,000 green plants of different varieties added.

The construction of three metal footbridges and elevators for people with disabilities has also been completed.

According to the Administration, the pedestrian bridge crossing, along with a ramp, connected the sections of the city’s three-part coastline Boulevard and provided access to the beach.

The Municipal Development Fund spent more than $9 mln from the state budget on the renovation.
