Borussia Dortmund confirms former Turkish player as new head coach
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaBorussia Dortmund announced that former Turkish football player Nuri Sahin succeeded Edin Terzic as head coach of the German football club.
The 35-year-old Sahin, who was previously Terzić’s assistant, signed a new three-year contract.
Sahin played 274 competitive games over two spells at Dortmund, scoring 26 goals. He left after the first stint for Real Madrid in 2011 and also played on loan for Liverpool before returning to Dortmund, initially on loan, in 2013.
From 2021 to 2023, he managed Turkish Super Lig club Antalyaspor, and in Jan. 2024, he returned to Borussia Dortmund as an assistant coach.
During his playing career, Sahin won the Bundesliga in 2011 and the DFB Cup in 2017.
He also lifted the 2012 Spanish La Liga title with Real Madrid.
