Belgium, which holds the presidency of the EU Council, has reported that the EU has agreed on new restrictions against Russia.

A new package of anti-Russian sanctions has been agreed upon during a meeting of permanent representatives of EU member states.

It is noted that the sanctions package will include new measures and strengthening of previous restrictions with the removal of the possibility of circumventing them.

In May it was said that 52 companies from Russia and other countries could be subject to sanctions. However, the package does not mention restrictions on the travel of Russian diplomats.

In addition to this, the new restrictions will not apply to the import of Russian liquefied natural gas, nuclear fuel and aluminum.
