Starting next year, Russian regions may be given the right to collect a tourist tax, Russia's Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov said.

"It is proposed to grant all regions of the country the right, starting January 1, 2025, to establish or not to establish a tourist tax on their territory," Vakhrukov said.

A tax will be credited to the municipal budget and can be used exclusively for the design, construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of tourism infrastructure.

According to the deputy minister, this type of mechanism is transparent both for business and tourists in the region.
