Rospotrebnadzor banned swimming on the beaches of Makhachkala after conducting a survey. The reason is dangerous bacteria flourishing as a result of wastewater discharges.
A ban on swimming on city beaches has been introduced for residents and guests of Makhachkala due to severe pollution. The decision was made based on the results of laboratory tests.
“The decision was made to introduce restrictive measures to prohibit swimming in seawater in the coastal strip of the city of Makhachkala until further notice,”
- Rospotrebnadzor informed.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, dangerous bacteria were found after taking water samples. The concentration of the bacteria exceeds the allowed level. They appeared due to wastewater discharges into the sea.
Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that the ban will prevent the spread of infectious diseases among city residents.
Previously, due to the dumping of wastewater, swimming was prohibited on the beaches of Kaspiysk. The republic's beaches are closed for the 5th year in a row.
However, despite the government ban, local residents, as well as guests of the city, continue to swim in the sea.
