Main water supply repaired in almost 10 days in Georgia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAccording to the Georgian Water and Power company, the pipes of the central water supply system have been repaired in the Aragvi River gorge near Tbilisi.
The accident occurred on June 16. However, experts were unable to get to the pipes. Unknown people had been covering them with bulk material for several years, so that they ended up buried under a slope that crumbled because of the slightest movement.
With the participation of geologists, the slope was divided into stepped terraces, after which repairmen were able to begin searching for damages and repairing them.
To date, all damage has been repaired. The pipeline is being flushed. If all goes according to plan, it will be filled with water soon, which will be tested in a laboratory before being served to consumers.
As a result, over 63 thousand people, who have been receiving water on schedule for almost a week, will be able to use it around the clock.
The GWP clarified that water will begin to be supplied today, but complete liquidation of the consequences of the accident is planned for tomorrow.
