Armenia and France aim to expand cooperation in field of seismic protection
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAccording to the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vahe Ghazaryan, had a meeting with the French delegation of the Department of Environmental Control and Analysis of the French Atomic Energy Commissariat on June 27.
During the negotiations, issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of seismic protection were discussed.
Vahe Ghazaryan drew attention to the fact that one of the key goals of the Ministry is the formation and establishment of a disaster-resistant state, as well as the consistent reduction of the risk of natural disasters.
He recalled that the interaction between the two countries in the field of seismic protection had been going on for decades. It was especially strengthened after the severe earthquake of 1988.
In turn, members of the French delegation spoke about the work being done in the areas of ecology and earthquake monitoring. In particular, full support was confirmed for maintaining and improving the seismic monitoring potential in the South Caucasian republic.
The Armenian minister emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to modernize the observation network and improve existing equipment.
The parties also confirmed their intention to continue close cooperation.
