Ilham Aliyev opens Ashaghi Govhar Agha mosque in Shusha

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened the Ashaghi Govhar Agha mosque in Shusha on July 5.

Restoration work in the Ashaghi Govhar Agha mosque, which was subjected to vandalism during the years of occupation of Shusha, has been completed.

The mosque wa restord by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with the support of “PASHA Holding”.

The Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque is one of the historical and architectural symbols of Shusha. The mosque, built by architect Karbalai Safikhan, is considered the first of the mosques built in Shusha by Govhar Agha, the daughter of Ibrahim Khan.
