The cancellation of military drills with the United States will have a negative impact on Georgia’s defense capability, the president of the republic believes. The drills were scheduled to begin at the end of July.
The postponement of joint military exercises between Georgia and the United States threatens the strategic interaction of the two countries, the Georgian president said on July 6.
"This is damaging to our country. This could be the same level of damage that the Russian law does to our European path. It is damaging to our strategic partnership with the United States, a threat to our defense capability and to everything that has built our military to this day,”
– Salome Zurabishvili said.
The head of state also accused the country's authorities of disrupting the drills.
“Our leadership has no idea where our friends are and where our foes are, what needs to be done and where to find peace. Peace is impossible in isolation and without partners,”
- the President of the Republic said.
