Iran prevents terrorist attacks ahead of presidential elections

A group of 8 terrorists who were preparing terrorist attacks on the day of the election run-off in Iran were detained by local law enforcement officers. The attackers received instructions from abroad.

On the eve of the second round of Iranian presidential elections, local security forces neutralized a group of terrorists.

“On the evening, before the elections, a group of 8 terrorists was detained; a large amount of weapons and explosives were found in their possession. Law enforcement officials, thanks to their vigilance, detained the terrorists even before any action was taken,”

- the Head of the election headquarters of the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Reza Sharifi said.

As a result of the election run-off that took place yesterday, reformist Masoud Pezeshkian won, having secured the support of 53.6% of voters.
