From now on, firefighters will be constantly stationed in the record-breaking high-altitude village of Kurush to ensure the safety of local residents, tourists and climbers. For this purpose, a separate fire department was opened in the village.
Amid daily fires in the Russian south, today, in the highest mountain village of the European continent, Kurush (Dokuzparinsky district of Dagestan), the fire and rescue unit began operating in a very timely manner. The district leadership emphasized that the village literally needed its own firefighters.
There are two factors that played its role in the opening of the fire department: geographical and tourist. The village is located at a fairly large distance from the regional center - 26 km - and at a huge altitude of almost 2.6 km, so getting to it is not so easy, especially in difficult weather conditions.
