Turkmenistan wants to improve ties with Turkey

Turkmenistan pays special attention to relations with Turkey, Turkmen
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at meeting with a spokesman
of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Development in Turkmenistan,
Kemal Ozdzhan, Trend reports.


The agency works on trade, economy, agriculture, culture, education,
science and social development.


Regular bilateral meetings demonstrate efforts to improve ties.  The
two states have over 100 agreements. A joint Turkish-Turkmen
commission for economic cooperation was formed in 2008. Turkmenistan
has over 600 Turkish companies operating.


Turkey is realizing the Avaz national tourism zone on the Caspian
coast. There is interest in transporting Turkmen gas to Europe. One
way is through the Caspian sea and attaching a pipeline to Nabucco.
Another is through Iran.


Turkmenistan has the world's fourth largest gas reserves after Russia,
Iran and Qatar.
