Russia to sign the Tehran convention

Russia is preparing to sign the Tehran convention on environmental protection in 2012 in the framework of the Caspian states summit.

The summit will be held in Russia next year. Previously the parties discussed possible measures to protect the Caspian Sea's natural resources.

The last conference of the Caspian countries took place in Kazakhstan this month and was attended by representatives of Russia, Turkmenistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
