Moscow territory to expand and reach Kaluga Region

Moscow is expanding iys territory. 144,000 hectares were to be added,
but that figure has reached 160,000 hectares, Moscow Mayor Sergey
Sobyanin said, Gazeta.ru reports.


Sobyanin and Governor of Moscow Region Boris Gromov initiated the
expansion after a meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev on July 11.
Moscow will expand towards the west, south-west and south of Moscow's
outskirts. The new border will be at the Kievkoye and Varshavskoye
Highways.


Moscow reaches the village of Rogovskoye on the border of the Moscow
and Kaluga Regions.


The villages of Spas-Kuplya, Grishenko and Dmitrovka are nearby. 15
out of 22 villages being added to Moscow are major ones. Sherbinka
will merge with the capital.


The new territories would unite around Moscow. They will have 105
million square meters of various facilities – 45 million square meters
of office space and 60 million square meters of housing. Such a space
is equivalent to two annual construction cycles in Russia.
