Baku expresses condolences to Tehran over Khorasan tragedy

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to the Iranian government and people over the gas explosion in a coal mine in the Khorasan Province, the ministry's press service reported.

"We express our condolences to the people and government of Iran, as well as the families of those killed in the coal mine explosion in Khorasan province," the statement reads.

The ministry expressed hope for a speedy recovery of the victims and a quick elimination of the consequences of this tragic incident.

The death toll has exceeded 50 people as a result of an explosion at a coal mine in Tabas, South Khorasan Province in eastern Iran. The accident was caused by a methane gas explosion in two blocks, B and C. There were 69 workers in the blocks at the time of the explosion.
