Emir of Qatar visits Iran

The Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is on a visit to Tehran,
assisted by the prime minister, foreign minister, minister for trade
and other high-ranking officials. He was welcomed by Iranian
Vice-President for International Affairs Ali Saidlu at the Airport of
Mehrabad.

The emir met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. They discussed
bilateral ties. Iranian Ambassador to Qatar Abdollah Sokhrabi said
that the visit is part of the country's foreign policy aimed at
improving ties.

Iran and Qatar have historic ties and common views on various issues,
including Libya and the Gaza Sector.
